While training for my black belt test, I have done a lot of running both distance as well as sprints up inclines, I also purchased the “Insanity Workout” from www.beachbody.com  this was a great way for me to build my cardio.  I work full time so workouts are in the morning, then at night I’ll either go to the karate studio and do the group class or run the trails near my home.  At 41, I’m in pretty good shape though I could always be better and train harder, so I’ll continue build up my endurance, maybe I’ll run a 1/2 or full marathon next year.
